Cornwall - August 1 - Mousehole & St. Ives

Our third day in Cornwall started with a quick visit to Lands End - which...ain't worth the visit. It's the UK equivalent of "South of the Border". But, the day improved significantly from there. Next stop was the Porthcurno beach where Nancy had a lovely stroll on the soft sand, and I sat on a rock. (I really don't like sand.) Then, onto Mousehole (pronounced "MOW-zell") - a funky little coastal village where they just happened to be hosting their Village Summer Festival...which was cool...but...the party was set up in the one and only car park lot in the whole village, which we found out after winding our way through a bunch of narrow streets. After getting blocked from the car park, we turned onto an even narrower street and stopped to ask an elderly gentleman - named Ken - for advice. When we explained our plight, Ken asked us how long we'd be staying, and we said that we were just stopping for lunch. So, he said, "Let me get in the back seat." - which...yes...we did. He then guided us to his garage and let us park in his spot during our visit. He also proudly showed us his vintage 1935 Morgan Super Sports three-wheeler car that he has been restoring (see pic) - very cool. We related this story to a couple of folks that we met in Mousehole, and they all said, "Oh...I know Ken!" Even better, when we got back to our hotel in St. Ives, we mentioned it to the folks at the front desk, and the Valet (who had lived in Mousehole 10 years ago) said, "Oh...yes...I know Ken. Did he show you his car?" We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring and shopping in St. Ives and visiting a number of art galleries. We found some really cool blown/fused glass artwork, and we save a brochure for the artist as we may order a piece from her before we head back to the U.S.
