Switzerland - September 23 - Bern

10/15/2026

On Wednesday morning, we hopped on a train to Bern (the Capital of Switzerland). We roamed around all day and mostly explored the Old Town - which is a UNESCO Heritage site. The Bundeshaus (parliament building) was impressive - at least from the outside. We hadn't made reservations to see the inside. The Zytglogge - 15th century astronomical clock - was very cool, and we caught it right at noon, so we saw the full mechanical show. Not quite as impressive as the clock in Prague, but still lots of fun. The Kindlifresserbrunnen was just...weird...but also kinda funny...and kind gross. It's a staute of a giant eating children in a fountain in the middle of one of the main squares in Bern. Not very woke if you ask me. We visited the Bern Munster (a gothic cathedral) and the Barengradeben (Bear Park)...but only saw one bear. Supposedly there are about 10 of them in there. And, we took a hike up to the Rosengarten (Rose Garden), which was lovely and provided a wonderful view of Bern. BTW - Another absolutely perfect weather day. For the record, on this entire trip so far, we've only needed umbrellas one time (in London) and only for about 20 minutes, with a very light rain. I told you...it doesn't rain on my parade.
