London - September 20 - Bayeux Tapestry

10/15/2026

Today, we talked to the British Museum where the highlights were the Rosetta Stone in the Egyptian Exhibit and the Bayeux Tapestry in a special exhibit space built specifically for the tapestry. This tapestry is almost 1,000 years old, and it's the first time that it's been on display in the UK. The tapestry is almost 70 meters long and tells the story of the Norman Conquest of England in the 11th century. This was vey high on Nancy's Bucket List for our adventure to London, and I must admit, it as much more impressive than I expected it to be - especially with the way that the museum set up the whole experience. In a nutshell, the experience, in total, took about 45 minutes, and about 2/3 of that time was just standing in line waiting to GET to the tapestry. But, they had a multi-media presentation that both entertained and informed while we waited, so it didn't get tedious. There wasn't as much fanfare around the Rosetta Stone, but it was still pretty darn cool to see it.
